Dr Jon Pengelly is a Lecturer in 2-D and 3-D Digital Media, at Grays’ School of Art, Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen Scotland. His background is in Printmaking having completed a PhD titled, Environmentally Sensitive Printmaking: a Framework for Safe Practice in 1996. His work investigates the pragmatic application of digital and industrial manufacturing technologies across a wide range of visual art practices with an emphasis on the application of Computer-Aided-Design and Computer-Aided-Manufacturing technologies within printmaking. Current research Developing printed artworks using computer-aided-design technology: towards establishing an innovative three-dimensional visual syntax within printmaking has been funded by AHRB.

His recent exhibitions have included 2002: Digital Responses, V&A London; Looping, Project-Studio, Leiden, Netherlands; Freeflow, Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow; Acorns on the Sea, video projection, Maritime Museum, Aberdeen. 2001: re-juice’ an e@t collaboration ‘, in I’m a stranger here myself, Stills Gallery, Edinburgh; also ‘recipe’ by e@t in Blue Skies, New Media Scotland commissions at Stills Gallery; Space Ships , Foyer Gallery, Aberdeen. 2000: Holding Pattern, Year of the Artist Residency, Greenham Common and My Only Skin, Videoformes, International Video and Multimedia Festival, Clermont- Ferrand, France.
